The Carolina Chaos Summer Collegiate baseball team is located in the upstate of South Carolina between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC. The team's home venue is Dr. C. Keith Connor Field on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University, located in Central, SC. The team offices are based in Clemson, SC. The area is located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, bordering Lake Hartwell. The upstate area of South Carolina has grown dramatically in recent years. The area was primarily built around textile mills, which gave rise to the historic scenery in the area, as well as the textile mill baseball leagues, which were responsible for many early major league baseball players. The Carolina Chaos got their start in a converted textile mill baseball field that is located in the heart of the small town of Liberty, SC. Players come to the area and are amazed at the history that baseball has played in the small communities. Players such as "Shoeless Joe Jackson" once called the upstate of South Carolina home. Although history is still seen in the area architecture, the upstate area of South Carolina is also thriving and alive with activity. Larger metro areas include: Greenville, SC and Anderson, SC. A diversified population has moved to the area in recent years. With companies such as: BMW, Robert Bosch Corp., Michelin Tire Corp, and BASF, the workforce in the area has slowly shifted from manufacturing textiles to a more high-tech base. One of the largest attractions to the upstate area is the town of Clemson.Known for its rich "college-town" atmosphere, Clemson, home to the Tigers of Clemson University, boasts a variety of shops, restaurants, and recreational facilities. Bordering the town of Clemson is Lake Hartwell. Lake Hartwell borders Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo and Seneca rivers. Created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1955 and 1963, the lake comprises nearly 56,000 acres of water with a shoreline of 962 miles. Bordering Clemson is the town of Central. Central continues to capture the true essence of small town atmosphere, while remaining one of the fastest growing towns in South Carolina. Central is also home to the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University. Southern Wesleyan University serves as the host site for the Carolina Chaos. Founded in 1906, SWU remains one of the fastest growing private liberal arts institutions in the nation. Known for its friendly inviting atmosphere, rich tradition and cutting edge degree programs, Southern Wesleyan has carved a niche for itself as one of the southeast's most respected institutions.
